With a substantial $110 billion commitment to new business projects across the continent between 2019 and 2023, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly surpassed traditional investors like China, the United Kingdom, and France to become Africa’s largest investor. A significant amount of this investment is allocated to renewable energy projects.
When it comes to new economic endeavors in Africa, the UAE’s $110 billion investment greatly outpaces that of other nations. Approximately $72 billion of this funding is set aside for renewable energy projects. African politicians have welcomed the UAE, but some activists express concerns about its record on environmental norms and worker rights, which may affect the quality of its investments in Africa.
