Delta Automotive Technologies in Lobatse, Botswana, is transforming the town into a hub of automotive manufacturing, producing wiring harnesses for Volkswagen and Nissan with support from an \$80 million African Development Bank credit line via the Botswana Development Corporation. The factory employs 327 people—75% of whom are women—and plans to expand to 1,000 employees by 2027. This initiative promotes industrialisation, gender equity, and integration into global supply chains, aligning with the African Development Bank’s development goals. Delta’s success showcases how strategic investment in manufacturing can drive inclusive economic growth and serve as a model for African industrial transformation.
