
Actress Thuso Mbedu from South Africa has been confirmed as a part of the “Children of Blood and Bone” ensemble. An adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling book, the Paramount Pictures film is scheduled to debut in theaters on January 15, 2027.
For her next major Hollywood movie, which will be shot in South Africa, Thuso Mbedu will reunite with Gina Prince-Bythewood, the director of The Woman King.
The 33-year-old Pietermaritzburg native will star in Prince
Featuring well-known actors like Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Donald Glover as King Simba, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Queen Nala, the movie is scheduled to open in December, five months later than anticipated. Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé’s daughter, will portray Kiara, Simba and Nala’s kid.
Kagiso Lediga joins the cast as a younger Rafiki, and John Kani reprises his role as Rafiki.
Lin-Manuel Miranda and composer Lebo M will provide new songs to the movie.
